What is Walk+Talk?
Walk+Talk is a simple, free and accessible series of events - where you simply go for a walk and chat or listen.
Based in your community, for your community.
WHEN
Once a week, specific time. Just show up.
WHAT
Each walk is 30-45 mins to suit the group.
HOW
All ages and abilities, pets and prams welcome.
SHARE
Want to talk? Prefer to listen? space for both.
WHERE
Local community centres, village greens, parks, anywhere
Now, more than ever, we need to strengthen in-person, peer support and cultivate opportunities for positive physical and mental well-being across all communities.
Better Together
It improves self-perception and self-esteem, mood and sleep quality, and it reduces stress, anxiety and fatigue.
Physically active people have up to a 30% reduced risk of becoming depressed, and staying active helps those who are depressed recover.
Why is Walk+Talk so good for you?
Walk+Talk is a simple, safe and welcoming programme - which aims to help rebuild your confidence to get out and join in with some gentle activity and easy conversation - with other like-minded people in your area. We're confident that these regular opportunities for a little exercise and company, will make you feel happier and healthier.
Research tells us that walking regularly will improve many aspects of health. As a low impact and accessible activity, it can "enhance cardiovascular fitness, strengthen bones, reduce excess body fat, and boost muscle power and endurance. It can also reduce your risk of developing conditions such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis and some cancers".
Add to this the chance to share a chat and connect with people in your neighbourhood, and the science tells us this is certain to boost your mood.
It's not complicated. It's totally safe. It's entirely inclusive. And it's free.
Show up for the next Walk+Talk for some fresh air, activity and conversation - and to be reminded that you matter, and you belong.
Would you like a Walk+Talk in your area?
Walk+Talk is open to everybody, all it takes is a few volunteers and some support from us. We provide you with everything you need to get started, we will guide you and support you all the way. It really is very simple and hugely rewarding.
Please contact us below and we'll help you get going.
