Friends of Olveston School
Local Community Partner
FoOS (Friends of Olveston School) PTFA (parent, Teacher and Friends Association) is a registered charity run by a team of volunteer parents and friends of the school with the help of teachers. Our aim is to run fun events throughout the year to raise funds to support the children’s time at the school.
We are all aware of how the COVID-19 pandemic has turned our children’s world upside down. As a result, we are looking at a range of ways to support our children as they return to school this includes: mindfulness activities and books; art and music projects and fun outdoor equipment to boost both mental and physical health.
We are delighted that Ben has chosen FoOS as one of his local community partners again for his February run.
In support of Ben, FoOS are setting their own 12 minute sponsored challenge, asking each pupil to complete 12 minutes of an exercise of their choice.
What will you choose – running, skipping, scooting, cycling, stair climbing, an online workout? Maybe you will complete 12 different activities for a minute each.
Following a very wet and windy run in January, where Ben clocked up 98.2km, Ben will be hoping for better weather as he completes his February run on Saturday 20th February around Olveston and Tockington. You won’t be able to miss him, he will be wearing a yellow wig! Do look out for him and give him a wave. How about supporting him by making a yellow sign to put in your window or wearing yellow for the day?
Whatever you choose to do, don’t forget to send us photos and stories of your 12 minute challenge for the newsletter.
All money raised will go towards valuable resources to support the children's mental and physical wellbeing when they return to school.
Thank you for any support you can give so we can support the children.
